This was one of those nights when the whole was less than the sum of its parts. There were areas, like the above, that I was pleased with. But the whole thing looks kind of awkward. I'm too impatient to get started, and I don't spend enough time getting the composition right. But I get a little more comfortable with Painter every time, and learn something new. It's funny, though, how the least expressive part of the painting is the face. It's a close enough likeness, but it's an empty one. the person doesn't glow through it, as in Cindy's or Laura's or Chuck's portraits. That's always been a shortcoming of mine, and it's probably due to the fact that I'm a sociopath.
