THE UNIVERSE, PART I

detail.jpg

This is the first in a series of 34,066,920,115,339,120,061 drawings. I figure it will take me 85,167,300,288,300,000 moleskines, which is going to cost $1,192,342,204,040,974,323.17. So I'd better start saving up right now. By the way, I made up the 17¢ on the end of the last figure. I just think 17 is an inherently funny number, more than most of the others. Okay, try this: "...which is going to cost $1,192,342,204,040,974,323.44..." See, it wasn't as funny, was it? This is the kind of knowledge that comes from years of experience, so don't feel bad if you didn't think of this first. For some reason, and I'm no mathematician, so I don't pretend to know why, but prime numbers are funnier than divisible ones. I'm sure there's a theory behind it, but I prefer to think of it as one of the Mysteries of the Universe, like why you can't tickle yourself.
