When did people start saying "fermiliar" instead of "familiar"? I just heard a TV announcer say it! I know, that's what I get for watching TV. And who am I to talk, anyway? I just heard the correct pronunciation of "synecdoche". Not even close to how I had been pronouncing it. Fortunately, I had only been pronouncing it in my head. The circles I travel in don't use words like "synecdoche". Not even close. "Pissant", yes;"breeks", sure; but never "synecdoche". Which is precisely why I travel in those circles. If I want an intellectual challenge, I'll go to the comics page and play "Jumble".
