I have a love/hate relationship with pirates, except without the love part. That "arrgh" stuff got old like 250 years ago, and yet they keep it up. And somehow these guys have gotten the idea that every event should have pirates hanging around. Granted, there's a connection, however tenuous, with Harborfest, but last year I attended an art opening at a local gallery, and pirates showed up! The opening had nothing to do with pirates whatsoever, yet here they were, swaggering and growling and singing wretched sea chanteys and grabbing hold of their "wenches" and whatnot. It's no wonder people hated pirates back in the old days. It amazes me that they're tolerated today. We should treat them the way we do mimes, beat them up or whatever. Or confine them to Chesapeake. Kill two birds with one stone.
